    • Poet, critic, editor, translator, publicist.
    • First poem published in 1822.
    • Gained early recognition from Károly Kisfaludy, became member of Kisfaludy's inner circle, to which Mihály Vörösmarty; and Toldy also belonged, with whom he formed the "triász," or triad, of 1830s.
    • Engaged mainly in historical writing 1844-1847
    • Married Juliánna Csajághy.
    • Corresponding member of Academy in 1831, regular member in 1832.
    • Director of National Theater August 1837-June 1838 and October 1847-May 1848.
    • "Sóhajtás" most frequently translated.
    • Helped to establish song as genre in Hungarian poetry and was especially successful in use of lyrical ballad.
    • His poems with patriotic and political themes are generally considered his best. His literary criticism was deeply influenced by classical and German theories, and his writings on dramaturgy form the most lasting part of his literary activity.
    • He translated works by Goethe, Uhland, Immermann, Herder, Anastasius Grünn, and Schiller.
    • Some of his poems have been translated into Bulgarian, English, German, Hebrew, Italian, Romanian, and Russian.
