Cardinals to put World Series tickets on sale

ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that they have received approval from Major League Baseball to begin selling World Series tickets on Saturday, October 15 at 9:00 a.m. CDT. The National League will host games 3, 4 & 5 (if necessary) in the best-of-seven Fall Classic. The games would be played on Tuesday, October 25, Wednesday, October 26 and Thursday, October 27 with all three games starting at approximately 7:00 p.m. CDT.



Similar to ticket sales for the division series and league championship series, tickets will not be sold at Busch Stadium. The ability of the teams new ticketing system to simultaneously process a higher volume of orders in a faster and equitable manner plus the difficulty in staging long lines due to new stadium construction has dictated that postseason tickets only be available via phones and the internet.

• Internet purchases - Fans must pre-register at stlcardinals.com by 11:00 a.m. CDT on Wednesday, October 12 for a random drawing to have the opportunity to purchase tickets online to a World Series game. Winners will be notified by email. The email will provide winners on instructions on how to purchase tickets online on Saturday, October 15 on a first-come basis. Details and rules of the random drawing are posted on stlcardinals.com.

• Phone purchases - Fans can call (314) 421-2400 and tickets will be sold on a first-come basis.

There will be a one-game, two-ticket purchase limit for each internet drawing winners and for phone orders. Ticket prices, which are determined by Major League Baseball and unchanged from 2004, are as follows: Terrace Box Outfield ($150), Loge Reserved Outfield ($140), Terrace Reserved ($125), Upper Terraced Reserved ($125), Bleacher ($65), and Standing Room ($45). Applicable service fees apply. Tickets will not be available at remote locations.

The Cardinals anticipate that approximately 12,000 tickets (4,000 tickets per game) will be available for public purchase.
